COURSE DESCRIPTION

Montana Academy of Salons offers a 700 hour training course in massage therapy that meets and exceeds Montana State standards of which at least 200 hours is in theory as follows and taught in English.

Montana Academy of Salons objective for the massage therapy program is to enable students to successful pass the written and practical exam through and to prepare them for work once graduated. Education on business opportunities related to massage therapy are provided to students to encourage them reach for their full potential and go beyond licensure.
The 700 hour course at our Great Falls, MT location educates students in all phases of massage therapy, which meets Montana State and National Standards. Students must pass all practical and written tests of each phase to successfully complete the course. During each phase students are presented with classroom theory lectures and coaching in practical skills in order to prepare them for licensure. Massage Therapy Gainful Employment

COURSE ADDITIONAL HOUR RATIONALE:

Montana Academy of Salons requires the completion of a total of 700 clock hours; however, only 500 clock hours are required by the Montana Board of Massage Therapy. The extra 200 hours are required by Montana Academy of Salons to provide additional training in business management and ethics as well as performing additional guest services in-house vs. outside of the school, all of which are current industry demands.

COURSE GOALS

Montana Academy of Salons offers a 700 hour training course in massage therapy that meets, and exceeds, the 500-hour training course in the State of Montana, Montana Academy standards distributed as follows and taught in English.

Montana State and National Standards (500 hours):

Course Hours Subject
200 Hours of in-class and instructor-supervised massage and bodywork assessment, theory, and application instruction
125 Hours of instruction on the body systems (anatomy, physiology, and kinesiology);
40 Hours of pathology
50 Hours of business and ethics instruction (a minimum of six hours in ethics)
285 Hours of instruction in an area or related field that completes the massage Course of study
Total 700 Course complete when student reaches 700 hours
300 Each massage therapy student will complete a minimum of 300 hours of basic instruction prior to working or performing any service on the public

When the student has completed 100% of the course, the student may take the National written exam and must pass it with a grade of 75% or higher.
